I come from a programming background but have never worked with building circuits, and haven't taken any classes on electronics. I was looking for a good starter kit to teach me some of the basics, and this definitely fit that requirement. I didn't know how to read schematics or use a breadboard, so I followed the video and it worked out great. The product video does a good job of stepping through the schematic, and highlighting which pieces are being placed next. Watching it taught me a little bit about reading schematics too. I did have to look up information about reading resistor values from the colors.
The kit also included the batteries, velcro, and copper foil. Some tools you'll want to have on-hand: soldering iron & solder. wire stripper. scissors.
Teachers may like to know that you CAN make this kit without the soldering iron and wire stripper.
The product page mentions you can easily hack this kit to work with an arduino. Anyone have instructions how?
