Great place to start but missing a lot April 22, 2013

This is the first book I got, it picked it up right next to the Ultimate Microcontroler Kit that was made by the same company.  But I have run in to quite a few problems, mostly from lack of documentation.  
Example:  The tricolor LED from the kit is common anode, and has nothing telling you this.  So when you work with the book it just doesn't work.  There is no troubleshooting, common errors, or anything to help you.  
Its a good place to start, but it really needs a refresh, and the kit needs some documentation.
