Maker SHED

Makers around the globe are building low-cost devices to monitor the environment, and with this kit, so can you. With your own Arduino Uno and the included Maker Shield, follow along with the "Atmospheric Monitoring with Arduino" book (PDF included) to build your own LED analyzers. Use the detailed instructions in the book to build devices that have been proven to work, or use the components included to prototype your own analytic devices.

Detect dust particles such as smoke and smog, and upper atmospheric haze—substances and conditions that are often invisible to your senses.

• Create an LED Photometer to measure how much of the sun’s blue, green, and red light waves are penetrating the atmosphere.
• Build an LED sensitivity detector—and discover which light wavelengths each LED in your Photometer is receptive to.
• Learn how measuring light wavelengths lets you determine the amount of water vapor, ozone, and other substances in the atmosphere.
• Use the speaker to notify you of changes in the atmosphere, whether it's a drastic change in smog level or the first few minutes of an awesome sunset.
