Features
  • The charger circuitry and 2 AA batteries fit into an Altoids gum tin, and will run your iPod for hours, 2.5x more than you'd get from a 9V USB charger! You can use rechargable batteries too
  • Tested with iPod Nano/Mini/Photo/Video/Shuffle, Blackberry, iPaq, LuxPro Tangent, Rio Carbon, Samsung T809 and more
  • Uses 2 AA batteries (not included), more than doubles your iPod 4G/5G battery life!
  • Some soldering is necessary, but it's pretty easy even if you've never soldered before
  • Batteries and tin not included. If you can't find Altoids gum, you can buy a tin (including the gum) from us here
  • Kit by Adafruit

Great kit December 21, 2009
Reviewer: Jonathan Barrett from Costa Mesa, CA United States
This was a really cool project to work and it works like magic when your done (I was shocked because I usually break everything) The only issue I had was that it gets hot. The whole case gets really warm depending on the use. Overall it's a really cool build and a creates attention when noticed in public.

Get tin snippers December 29, 2008
Reviewer: Reid Burger from Tempe, AZ United States
I tried cutting the tin with all sorts of things and at the end of the day, i messed it up pretty royally.  It all worked but the lid did not close all the way down.  I gave it to my mom as a present for her cell phone and mp3 player.

Great kit for beginner July 15, 2008
Reviewer: Joel from Kinston, NC United States
This was my second kit to build and it was a lot of fun. Unlike a lot of electronic kits I've seen elsewhere, this one is practical and can be used daily. It works great with my iPod Nano. The instructions were excellent. Great kit, and I learned a few things, too.

Reviewer: michael pechner from palo alto, CA United States
I touched a soldering iron for the first time today at the makers faire.   The kit worked great.

It went together easily.  It charged my archos 605 perfectly.
