38. Mode max // off

The first mode is a ~5 minute night light.  It ramps up to full white and stays on for 2 or 3 minutes, then begins to fade over another 2-3 minutes. Then it shuts off automatically.  Just enough time to get undressed and into bed.

Next is a 1 hour version.  Half hour of full bright white, then a slower fade to black.  Good for reading at night and falling asleep.

Then we have 1/4, 1/2, and full bright white, when all you want is a light on.

This is followed by dim (25%) and full: red, green, blue, yellow, aqua, and violet.

Next is the color wash.  It randomly fades each of the three colors up and down.  Each mode starts with a dim version then goes to a bright version.  The first one is the fastest, then a slower one, then a really slow one, then a glacial one.  These are meant for ambient mood lighting.

Next are the simple 'flash' modes: red, green, blue, red+green, red+blue, green+blue.

Theses are followed by the 'blink' modes, in white, red, green, and blue.

Lastly comes "executive mode standby" or "off".  It's a super-low power mode for circumstances where the battery switch is not easily accessed.

Awesome March 21, 2010

I got this kit along with the Tiny Cylon, soldering practice kit and Herby the mouse kit. Of the four kits I got, this and the Tiny Cylon were the best. They are very small(as in tiny in size) but worth the money. The instructions were very easy to follow and written well. I would recommend this to anyone learning to solder and as a great intro to electronic kits!

I needed a blinking light for a project for my son, and this saved me some time and effort.

Lux Spectralis Kit May 19, 2009

I enjoy building kits that have well written instructions and work the first time the power is switched on. This is certainly one of those kits. The design and layout of the pcb was great. It's small and does require some manual dexterity, but a 'helping hands' gadget and some masking tape helps keep the board secure while soldering the led and transistors in place.
I would have given this kit 5 stars if the finished product could have all been fitted in a small project box. I ended up securing the pcb to the battery box with a rubber band - it works, but doesn't do justice to the unique design.

I really enjoyed putting this easy kit together. This is my second kit from MakerShed and both re the L.E.D.type. I really like L.E.D.s. I hope to get more kits in the future. I'm new to soldering so my advice to any fellow newbs is to get the right solder. my first attempt, though successful, would have been easier if I had that from the beginning.

Looking forward to more kits and keep up the good work MakerShed.
