I am the coach of a FIRST robotics team and I purchased this tool about 2 years ago to aid us in building our robot. We were building out of a classroom and had only hand tools to work with. This little saw came in so handy to use that we could not have competed without it. I also purchased the base for it and we took these to competitions. Many teams were able to cut all sorts of things on our saw and it has worked flawlessly now for 2 years. This may seem a bit pricey but in the long run you will use this as much as any other cutting tool you have. With the base you can use both hands to hold the material. I cannot recommend any tool with a higher rating than this one for what it is intended to do. We cut steel shafts, key stock, aluminum sheet and angle, plastics of all sorts.... great tool

Band Saws Rule! |

When they say "one handed operation" they mean it! Other portable band saws I have used are way too heavy (and therefore dangerous) to use with one hand. We use these at work to cut conduit (and all kinds of other stuff) and they work great! The balance is good, and the batteries have a long run time as well. (I have to change the battery about once a week. I don't know how many hundreds of cuts that is.) The only drawback is that the cutting area is not large, so large objects are harder to cut, but really that's like complaining that my car does not also make me toast.
