The MAKE Microbe Motel isn't one of those toy science kits you use up and throw away, or that kids walk away from ten minutes after they open it. You can use the Microbe Motel to do scores of experiments and projects with microbes—everything from easy projects for grade school kids through middle school science fair projects to high school AP biology projects to advanced DIY microbiology investigations.

All the specialty items you need to grow your own microbe cultures are included. The major parts—beaker, Petri dishes, and test tubes—are glass rather than cheap plastic, and can be sterilized and reused indefinitely. The stuff you use up is cheap and easy to replace, so you can use this one kit for years.

The Microbe Motel is a perfect gift for any bright kid—and your kids are bright, right?—from first grade through high school, or for any adult who's interested in hands-on science.

I bought this as a gift, and was expecting to receive a boxed kit with printed instructions, background information on microbes, and project ideas.  What came was an assortment of individually wrapped components, and no printed material whatsoever.  The components themselves seem to be high quality, and the bundle may represent an excellent value, but I feel like this bundle was misrepresented.
