Our Microscope Advanced Staining Kit includes 25 mL each of seven important biostains and four key fixatives and supplemental reagents, as well as ten polyethylene pipettes to dispense the stains and other reagents. (We prefer this method to dropper bottles, which tend to be messy and make it more difficult to dispense the proper amount of stain exactly where it's needed.) There is a sufficient amount of each stain to stain hundreds of slides.
We selected this group of biostains and supplemental reagents because among them they cover the preparation and staining protocols frequently used in biology, honors biology, and AP biology curricula, including the full Gram staining protocol. (Some of the stains may need to be diluted for some protocols; for example, the 2.5% ethanolic safranin O stain is diluted with distilled water to 0.25% for use as a counterstain in the Gram protocol.)
