Description
 
Ammonium acetate is often used to make up acetic acid/acetate pH buffer solutions and DNA gel electrophoresis buffer solutions. It is also used to make up a protein precipitating reagent, and a convenient source if you need a small amount of acetamide. Simply heat a small amount of ammonium acetate gently to decompose it quantitatively into acetamide and water vapor. Caution! May cause irritation to skin, eyes, and mucous membranes.
