For the last century it has been impossible to find reliable information on alcohol fuel production and use. Oil companies have continuously suppressed data on Henry Ford's favorite auto fuel. For example, by the late 80s, over 90% of the cars in Brazil ran on straight alcohol; any gasoline vehicle and most diesel engines can be inexpensively converted to run on straight alcohol; millions of Flexible Fuel vehicles and even many cars can run on alcohol or gasoline unmodified-but most vehicle owners don't know it. "Alcohol Can Be a Gas" reveals this hidden history. The only comprehensive manual on alcohol fuel production ever written. By David Blume. 640 pages

A Maker Manifesto June 7, 2010
Reviewer: Anne in Colorado from Lafayette, CO United States
In the wild, wild west of the industrial revolution alcohol was the fuel of choice, argues David Blume. It could be produced by farmers from crops that were too old or too blemished to be used, it could be made using re-purposed metal and scrap wood, it could be transported farther than grain, and sold at a higher premium. Henry Ford designed his cars primarily to run on alcohol, and most farm equipment ran on it. So, what happened? That story, and what we need to do as individuals and as a nation to recover from it is contained in this tome Edward Abbey called "very interesting and should be published."

i have always been obsesed with how thing work and sciences. hence training as an engeneer.  i was researching alternative fuel sources and building engines to maxamize there efficiency. i first used alcohol and then moved on to using h2o and electrolisis. this is great to see some one has put together all the alcohol gas info into one book this could have saved me a lot of time inthe past. p.s dont get over ambitious at the oil giants and governments will shut you down. i am now pennyless and bankrupt after applying for a pattent on a new engine using water ( h ) + ( o2 ) + veg seed oil that ran at 95.3% eff. i built a engine for my ford eq. to  a 2"ltr eng that produced 327bhp and at max fuel cconsumption cost about 3pence sterling per mile. should have mademe rich but the powers that be made me poor so not to endanger there profit and tax reterns. so plz carry on the good work but be careful.
