Karakuri dolls are one of the original forms of robots! The history of Karakuri (meaning "artful mechanism") automatic dolls began in the early Edo period (1603-1867) in Japan. This authentic tea-serving automaton is the most typical type, and is produced according to the Karakuri Zui, the only existing Karakuri mechanical doll manual, written in 1796. Includes instructions in Japanese, but we've got English instructions right here under the "How To" tab.
