I purchased one of these from RS. Works very well, very sensitive, but you can limit the field of view by placing a paper towel or toilet paper tube around the sensor.
The unit only has three pins; power, ground, and signal. I used the signal pin to directly drive a small piezo buzzer to test the unit. No code, no sketch, just drive the buzzer. Worked very well and sensed me moving into its field of view very easily.
Could be used to trigger Halloween props, turn on lights in dark areas only when you are present, or announce guests at your front door at night.

This took me about 20 minutes to program using an arduino. I was able to make a sound generating motion detector in under an hour. My only beef with this sensor would be that it seems that it gets a little confused when you are moving alot, but for the price, you can't beat it.
