Compared the Model 134 microscopes, the Model 163 offers the following upgraded features, capabilities, and other differences:
Superb optical and mechanical quality. These scopes are laboratory quality.
The trinocular head provides two primary (binocular) eyepieces (30° inclined) and a third, vertical eyepiece that can be used by a second person to view simultaneously, or can be used to connect a still or video camera to shoot images of the specimen in the field of view.
Continuously-variable 0 – 20W halogen illumination.
Coaxial coarse/fine focusing, with graduated fine-focus.
A 1.25 NA achromatic Abbe substage condenser with rack-and-pinion focusing.
A professional-quality mechanical stage, with low-position x-axis and y-axis control knobs and precise, accurate vernier scales.
Reverse nosepiece orientation, which makes it easier to change magnifications.
Includes three clear color-contrast filters (blue, green, and yellow) and a swing-out substage filter holder.
Optional super-high-contrast ASC achromatic objectives (add $81) or plan achromatic objectives (add $194).
