The BLE Mini Bluetooth 4.0 Interface is perfect if you want to integrate Bluetooth Low Energy to make your microcontroller iOS compatible. The BLE Mini from Red Bear Labs is about half the size of a stick of gum and is based on the TI-CC2540 SOC. It communicates via serial so it supports all major development platforms that have UART interface.. This includes Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Netduino, BeagleBone etc. In addition, the Ti's CC2540 can be used as a stand along microcontroller. All the I/O pins can be accessed giving you the ability to upload firmware via USB, making the BLE Mini an ideal development/prototyping board for your BLE project/accessory/Appcessory.

Based on the TI-CC2540 SOC Device not listed do not have the hardware to support Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy.
Different from BLE Shield
Unlike the BLE Shield, the BLE Mini does not require any additional library for Arduino. There is no modification required for your iOS App if it is based on our iOS Framework, however small changes on your sketch is needed. Please look at our sample codes in our SDK for more information.
  1. Download our Firmata_BLEMinisketch and upload it to your Arduino board.
  2. Connect pins from BLE Mini "J4" to Arduino board VIN
    -5VGND
    -GNDTX
    -Default RX (Pin 0)
    -RX Default TX (Pin 1)
  1. The Green LED at D1 should light up, otherwise please check the Troubleshooting section.
  2. Download our BLE Arduino App from Apple's iTunes Store.
  3. Turn on Bluetooth on your iOS device. (*Please note that BLE Shield or any Bluetooth Low Energy device will not show in the モDevicesヤ list as pairing to BLE device is not required)
  4. Start our BLE Arduino App and press "Connect".
