The Blinky Grid is a reprogrammable LED matrix that comes in an easy to assemble kit. It makes for a great learning experience - no rocket science, crazy complex tools, or frustratingly teensy parts involved. All parts are the largest surface-mount package available.

56 LEDs display text and animations in a variety of ways. The Blinky Grid is a standalone product and includes a pre-programmed microcontroller. Want to say something new? Hold the Blinky Grid up to your monitor - a web page updates the display. Two squares on the web page blink to transmit the new message or animation to the Blinky Grid microcontroller.

Blinky Grid requires:

  • 2 AA batteries
  • Soldering iron and solder
  • Diagonal cutters
  • Hot glue gun and wire strippers (optional)

Wayne and Layne kits employ fully open-source designs  - they believe in sharing. The Blinky Grid and Blinky POV are hack-friendly.

Custom, professionally-made PCB provides for an easy soldering experience.

To construct a Blinky Grid or Blinky POV, you'll need the kit, a soldering iron and solder, and anything extra you want to use for surface mount.
