Just put this together with my 9-year-old. He couldn't do the butt splices but did everything else. The project gave rise to questions like "What's a diode?" which was kind of the point. We chose not to attach the "projector" to the frame because we like the way it looks from a greater distance. Stood the frame up with part of a binder clip. It's glowing away on the mantel right now.

Simple Project |

This could all be done with a child as a great learning tool. It involves using two AA batteries (not included) powering up three LED's that change colors automatically and crimping them in a simple series electricity setup. The only thing the adult needs to assist with is crimping with pliers because it takes a strong hand, but the rest is simple setup and probably took me 5 minutes to put together. Looks great and is smaller than I imagined, I thought it was a regular photo frame size but rather a smaller frame. This also requires tape that is not included, directions say to use clear tape but I used masking tape which was slightly better to use because it's a little more durable. Looks good on the desk or next to the bed, anywhere you put it, it nicely adds a little style with low voltage batteries. :)

I got one of these for my daughter. She liked to sleep with the lights on, so I thought this would be perfect.
It is simple to assemble, though I agree with the other reviewer in that the butt splices are difficult. Just solder the LEDs together.
My only other complaint is that after some time, the LEDs only light red now. I don't know if they've worn out or what.

It's a very simple kit, and I really like the idea of having the three LEDs get out of sync. The screen is a nicely designed way to project the light. However, the butt splices were difficult to work with; I ended up just soldering the LEDs together. Also, the glue dots dry only work for short periods of time, so you'll need to find a better way to attach the screen to the art circuit for long term viewing.
