Use the same techniques used by real forensic scientists to reveal latent fingerprints.
The Forensic Latent Fingerprints Kit (WFORKD) includes the specialty items needed to complete the following lab sessions:
• Revealing Latent Fingerprints Using Iodine Fuming
• Revealing Latent Fingerprints Using Ninhydrin
• Revealing Latent Fingerprints Using Superglue Fuming
• Revealing Latent Fingerprints Using Gentian Violet
• Revealing Latent Fingerprints on Cartridge Cases
All the forensics lab sessions can be found online in the MAKE Science Room
Sufficient amounts of each consumable item are included to run each lab session from (typically) twice to five times or more, depending on individual work methods, solution volumes used, and the number of specimens tested during each run. You will also need eye protection (any splash goggles approved for laboratory use) and protective gloves. Disposable latex or nitrile gloves may be substituted for formal laboratory gloves. Please note: We cannot ship chemicals outside of the USA. No foreign orders please.

- Jars, wide mouth plastic (may substitute 2-liter soda bottles)

- Paper, white bond or copy (several sheets)
- Saucer (or plastic picnic dessert plate)
- Specimens, nonporous (glass, metal, plastic, etc.)
- Specimens, sticky tape (masking, adhesive, electrical, sticky labels, etc.)
- Sprayer bottle, fingertip (drugstore)
- Starch water (from cooking pasta, potatoes, or rice)
- Super glue (a few drops)
- Vinegar (supermarket)
- Ultraviolet light source (optional)
