Quite the assortment
November 15, 2012
Reviewer: Jay Dobson from Calgary, AB Canada
My Dad got me this kit for my 35th Birthday & I was floored. Yes, big kids like this stuff to.
These microcontroller kits are the step up from those old 1000 in 1 electronic project labs where you would make circuits by pushing parts in to springs.
I had some issues finding a decent datasheet for the LCD. I noticed the one in my kit was by TOPWAY (not sure if it always been these) & I found a great datasheet for it.
I slapped together a quick reference spreadsheet that works with the examples at Arduino.cc for anyone in the future to use in case they are having troubles.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ahgx-87bO5JgdFRhRVJmT1pWcjl0S3BmT2lrdFNEaGc
I love the kit! Comes with a very nice assortment of sensors, nice quality jumpers, & something to keep all the parts in.
It should be noted that this kit does not come with examples or labs specific for the parts in this kit. But you can do LOTS of the examples from Arduino.cc & move on to MAKE your own gadgets!

Microcontroller Pack
October 23, 2012
Reviewer: Nick from Oakdale , MN United States
I am revising my initial review of this product. I will admit I was a bit intimidated getting a box of "stuff" with no instructions whatsoever. But, now that I've done what Makers are supposed to do (dig in, investigate, research and learn as you go) I have to admit "I see what you did there." This kit has the components necessary to do the bulk of the heavy lifting. Go to the Arduino website, click the learning tab...

Oh, baby! Bring on the 'Duino!
October 23, 2012

The Mother Of All Arduino Kits, to say the least! So far, I have more parts than I know what to do with, but I am getting there...
I am okay with the price (though it seemed high at first, I definitely feel that I have received full value, considering the completeness of the kit), and happy with the technical support I have received.
Since this purchase, I have ordered three more Arduino boards and a boat-load of parts, with much more on my wish-list.
Thank you, MakerShed!

Don't forget to buy a USB Type B cable.
October 23, 2012
Reviewer: Dan from NY United States
My wife bought me this for christmas with the Arduino Uno. All looks well, but the kit does not come with the USB type B cable needed to use the arduino. It's not a very common cable to have laying around these days, so my kit will collect dust for a few days.

Missing one major item
June 21, 2012
Reviewer: Bradly Hawkins from APO United States
Only took about a week to receive it at an over seas location. I inventoried it and everything is there and in great quility from what i can tell. How ever there is one thing that I have come to find as being VERY misleading. It is suppose to be the ultimate pack, it comes with the Arduino and every...except for the USB cord to hook it up to your computer to program it. Now because of this little set back I will have to wait another week or 2 before actually being abel to use it. That is the only reason it got 3 stars rather than 4 or 5.

Nice parts, very little documentation
May 31, 2012
Reviewer: Jeff DM from Michigan, United States
This is a nice kit of parts, but it has a feeling of being a lot of parts thrown together, leaving the buyer to figure out what to do with it. It basically leaves the user having to hunt around for the projects that help explain the parts in question.

I am a beginner Arduino user and am excited to own this one of a kind set.
When I opened the set I could not wait to build to my heart's content. Then I found I was missing the blue Solderless Breadboard, Mini. this piece was necessary for my plains. other than missing this piece I am impressed with the quality of MAKER SHED products.

Great Kit to start off
May 3, 2012
Reviewer: Robert Bartlett from Waldorf, MD United States
I only recently discovered the Arduino, Make, and the Makershed. So, when I found that they offered this kit with as much of a range of parts as it has, it seemed to be a great place to start. I got mine with an UNO.
It would be nice if the kit included projects and directions that the parts are all intended to be used with. I have to use my computer to find the various How To's to make things that are in the kit, such as the Makershield. You need your computer to upload to the Arduino the sketches you make, but I guess I feel that any kit I buy ought to include some level of documentation, and not require internet access.
If you have rusty soldering skills, you will need to bulk up on them! And you will need to have/buy a soldering iron to complete the Makershield, and assemble the LCD.
Things I have bought since that I found were a requirement to completing projects: soldering iron and related items (flux, solder, etc), a third hand with magnifying glass, vise

Great kit!

This kit really has it all. It contains virtually everything you need to learn about Arduino and electronics. I have used every single part of it in various projects I've made. The kit is rather expensive for it's content, but it's well put together so worth it.
