Hacks are tools, tips, and tricks that help users solve problems. They are aimed at intermediate-level power users and scripters. Each book is a collection of article-length hacks, and each one provides detailed examples that show how to solve practical problems. Each hack explains in sufficient detail some job to do, whether it is covering a useful task, or providing an example. Hacks focus on the solution or the application, and not attempt to cover basic material that is already available elsewhere. The Hacks Series of books reclaims the term "hacking" for the good guys--innovators who explore and experiment, unearth shortcuts, create useful tools, and come up with fun things to try on their own.
The Hacks Series of books is published by the Maker Media Division of O'Reilly Media, Inc.
