Great pack But.... March 3, 2014
Reviewer: Bryan A from , Houston TX
Loved everything about this kit, great deal for the price! But...How about a USB Cable so we can program it?!  The cheaper kits come with one...Kind of a no brainer...

Good...but...Not quite "Ultimate"

love-hate sort of thing December 30, 2013

The only thing that makes me give this a 3 star is the amount of components, it's a nicely thought out kit with a pretty impressive number of components included.

However, I would have happily sacrificed some of the components for a USB to USB B cable. Yes, most people have them around, especially from printers and what not, but some people don't. Everything included in the kit is basically useless without that cable.

Richer online documentation would be nice too (you link to makerprojects.com/v/msump from the booklet but that page contains a bunch of projects that can't be built with only what's included in the kit).

There's nothing more frustrating than sitting around with shiny new stuff that you can't use because something's missing - please consider that when coming up with new kits.

A good kit that could be great December 24, 2013
Reviewer: Monte from Owasso, OK United States
I'm impressed with the number of components included and the number of learning projects that they will allow, but I expected a booklet to help me realize what projects I can complete with this kit. I'm left to search the Internet to find out what I can do and if I have the right parts. I'm spending all my experimenting time searching the net getting all the lessons lined out instead of starting on page one.  Add a manual or make a printable version at least.

Well worth the $100 sale price September 20, 2013
Reviewer: Mark from Hazelwood, MO United States
Not for the real beginner, but great for moderately experienced folks. Yes, some of the leads. like resistors, are a little too flexible for the breadboard, but a jumper wire freed up holes as needed and working close to the board helps, too.  Data sheets are mostly available online right here or with the listings for the individual items. A bit of a treasure hunt sometimes.  Plenty of project books available. I got one "30 Projects for the Evil Genius" that works well, with a little interpretation here and there.   The LCD took 3 tries to get it working, but the catalog page for the LCD does give correct instructions, just no diagram.

Wait for the next sale and buy it!

Needs Projects, needs documentation August 28, 2013
Reviewer: Rich Farwell from San Luis Obispo, CA United States
This package is aimed at the beginner, like me. If you're not a beginner, then you probably have all this stuff. But the package does provide a lot of parts to begin learning.  But the beginner needs instructions/projects on how to use it all and this doesn't have it.
Overpriced. I only bought the MSUMP1 after it went on sale. Even then I felt I overpaid. (Adafruit has a package that is similar but smaller & cheaper that has a whole pamphlet of projects.)

PROBLEMS:  Breadboard holes were so tight, I couldn't insert resistors without bending the wires--had to ream them out. Potentiometer doesn't fit breadboard hole pattern. No data sheets. "Microscopic" DC motor is pointless. Thermistor: what do you do with it? How do you use it?
