The DIY Neuroprosthetic Hand Kit is a hands-on electrophysiology project that lets you control a robotic hand using electromyography (EMG) signals from your own muscles.

Designed as an add-on for the Spiker:bit, the basic concept is simple: surface electrodes pick up muscle signals from your forearm, which are processed by the Spiker:bit board and used to actuate a servo motor in the robotic hand. This gives you a real-time demonstration of how neural signals control movement, making it an excellent, beginner-friendly introduction to the world of Brain-Computer
Interfaces (BCI) and assistive device engineering!

What's included in the kit:
- Foam hand base
- Servo motor with actuator arms
- Pre-cut balsa wood sheet (for mounting)
- String/thread (for the "tendons")
- Colored straws (for the "finger pulleys" and "tendon sheaths")
- Pencil (used for the servo motor spool)

What you need to supply/purchase separately:
- Spiker:bit
- micro:bit microcontroller
- 2x AA Batteries
- Hot glue gun (highly recommended for assembly)
- Scissors

Assembly difficulty:
Skill Level: Beginner / Easy. Perfect for classroom environments or weekend Maker projects.
Estimated Time: 1 to 2 hours. The build relies on simple hot glue and string-tension mechanics. Programming the micro:bit is a breeze with block-based coding via MakeCode (Python and JavaScript are also supported for more advanced users).
